Christmas Song Lyrics

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

Performed by LeAnn Rimes
Lyrics
Rockin’ around the Christmas tree
At the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Every couple tries to stop.

Rockin’ around the Christmas tree,
Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we'll have some pumpkin pie
And we'll do some caroling.

You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear,
Voices singing “let's be jolly”,
Deck the halls with boughs of holly.

Rockin’ around the Christmas tree,
Have a happy holiday
Everyone dancing merrily
In the new old-fashioned way.

About This Song
“Rockin’” was written by Johnny Marks, a Jewish songwriter who also penned Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and A Holly Jolly Christmas. According to Brenda Lee, who struck up a lifelong friendship with Marks, after he wrote the song he told a publisher friend, “I want Brenda Lee to do this song.” Looking back, Brenda Lee isn’t quite sure what led Marks to seek her out: “I was only 12, and I had not had a lot of success in records, but for some reason he heard me and wanted me to do it. And I did.”

Over the years, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” has been recorded by countless artists and is recognized worldwide. Recently, Brenda Lee says, a friend sent her a video of schoolchildren in China dancing to the song.
